About Public Square
Public Square EA is an East African-based think tank and civic innovation organization working to strengthen active citizenship and evidence-based decision-making. In a region with one of the world’s youngest populations but persistent political apathy, the organization fosters public debate, political education, and community engagement to encourage meaningful citizen participation.
A core pillar of Public Square EA’s work is climate and environmental governance, particularly improving public understanding of air quality and urban environmental risks. Through citizen science initiatives, public data platforms, and awareness campaigns, the organization works to make environmental data accessible and actionable, supporting informed dialogue and healthier, more resilient cities across East Africa.
